finished project!!!

I completed my first crochet project ever!!! I'm so excited. Although it's not perfect I'm extremely proud of how it came out. It just feels good to finish something. I would really like to find this same chenille yarn in a light pink color and make a baby blanket for a friend of mine. So far I haven't been able to find any soft colors other than white. I'm going to keep looking.

wii

This video game is so AWESOME!!! Even I am enjoying playing it. You can no longer say that your a couch potato if your playing the wii. Here is a couple of pictures of David bowling on the wii. He really likes Zelda although he is frustrated because he doesn't have is sword yet. I enjoy watching he and Danny playing the game "Rayman" it's hilarious! I would highly recommend this game.

Try not to laugh

Our tree looks pathetic.

We waited until we came home from Arizona to celebrate Christmas with just the 4 of us. I had a feeling our tree would be dried out but holy buckets it's was a yellowish brown color. It really was a pretty tree when we first got it. We normally get a fir tree. However, this year my step dad was kind enough to bring us a pine tree. I had to get a picture of the boys in front of it on our Christmas morning even if it does look the way it does. Needless to say about 3 hours after the picture was taken the tree was outside ready to be recycled.

I just have to say how impressed I am with David. I think it says a great deal about his character that he was more interested in going to Arizona to see his Grandparents than he was opening his presents. We told him that he would have to wait to open his presents until we got home. He said he would rather see his Papa Dave and Grandma than have any presents at all.

Grand Canyon

As a surprise for David on our trip we decided to make a detour. We thought it would be fun to go see the Grand Canyon. It's only about a 50 minute drive off of I-40. Well... after traveling the extra 50 miles and paying the $25.00 to get in. We were unable to even see the canyon. On our way up it started to snow but by the time we got to the rim we were in a snow storm with serious wind. The snow was coming down so hard it stung when it hit your face. Adam was crying. I was a bit freaked out because I couldn't keep my eyes open long enough to keep an eye on David. We literally spent maybe 2 minutes at the Grand Canyon. It was miserable. We are going to stop the next time we go to Arizona which will probably be in the Summer.
We still had fun despite the icky weather.

Saying Goodbye

This is always the hardest part about our trips to Arizona. It's so hard on all of us to say goodbye. Our visit was extra special this time because we were able to spend time with our nephew Nick. He is actually much more than a nephew to us. He is like our 3rd son. He even lived with us while he was for awhile. He has spent the last 2 years in Japan. He was just discharged from the Air Force this last month. It's good to have him home.

Road Trip!!!

We had an awesome time in and on our way to Arizona. We ran into snow in Idaho on the way down and on the way home between the Grand Canyon and Kingman. That part kind of stunk but we made the best of it. Adam did incredible in the car. He talked, played with toys, and took a nap. I was very happy and relieved with how well he did. David kept himself busy playing video games, watching movies, and doing word search puzzles. Since Danny drove the entire way down. I was lucky enough to take a few naps and crochet the entire way!

Online friends

You know online friends are pretty awesome. I think it so cool how you can get to know someone so well without even meeting them. Kristy (one of my online friends) was my Secret Santa this year. She made me a really cute hat and a thing to hold all my crochet hooks in. You see, I've been picking Kristy's brain for a month or so now. I've always wanted to learn to crochet and knit. She has been there (via email) to answer all my questions. She even has sent me some books on on crochet and knitting. I think I could very well get "hooked" on yard.
It was such a great gift! One that I will cherish always. Here is a picture of my hat she made me and another one of Adam wearing the hat she sent him also. (ignore his messy pb&j face) She did such a great job! Oh, and I forgot to mention the really cool hats she made my daycare girls. OMG! they are so stink'n cute. I would love to post a picture of the girls wearing them but since they aren't my children I wont. You'll just have to believe me when I say Kristy is VERY talented and creative. Thanks so much Kristy!!!

Rain

It's so hard for Adam to understand he can't go out and play when it's raining. He loves the outdoors so much and I'm all for jumping in a mud puddle on the way to the car. But that is as much fun as I like to have in the rain. Rainy days to me are coloring books, puzzles, and play dough. Oh, and maybe a good movie curled up on the couch drinking hot cocoa, wearing sweats. As much as I gripe about icky weather I do enjoy the different seasons. So today, like so many other days lately, I got out the play dough.

Weird Title

When setting up my blog I had the most difficult time trying to come up with a title. Everyone else seems to be so clever with their title. So the only thing I could come up with is "What About Sharyn?" It seems like I'm constantly running around taking care of everyone else, and I tend to forget about myself. I guess that's the life of a Mom. So that's kind of why I named it what I did. The other reason why is I've been watching this show "What about Brian?" When it first came out it was REALLY good. Now it's getting to be lame. So far I'm completely disappointed in this season. It's about to be deleted from my season pass on my TIVO.
So back to what I was talking about before. Sometimes I feel a bit overwhelmed. On one side I have this adolescent son of mine slowing becoming a man. On the other hand I have this wild child of a 2 year old. It's different frames of thinking when your dealing with each of them. It's exhausting. Mentally from the 11 year old and physically and mentally from the 2 year old. I love them both and even though I literally fall into bed every night I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

Brrrrrr.....

It's stink'n COLD!!! 29degrees right now. I have not seen the sun in days. I may have to make a trip to the tanning bed if I don't at least see 15 minutes of blue sky in the next week. I wish it would snow. If it's going to be cold it might as well snow, right? We did get a little bit of snow a week or so ago. The boys had fun playing it in. Why can kids stay out in the cold weather all day and it doesn't seem to bother them? I remember being like that myself. We would sled all day and then come home and drink hot cocoa when it was starting to get dark.

Santa Claus

Adam was so excited that he was going to see Santa yesterday. He waited in line and all was good until... it was his turn. That's when things got ugly. He wanted nothing to do with him. However he did want the candy cane. I was able to get a quick picture just before he completely freaked out and one while he was freaking out. I felt guilty that he was so scared. I hope that Christmas Eve he won't be afraid when Daddy is dressed up in the Santa suit.

Handyman

My hubby is so awesome! I mean for all the times I call him an alarm geek. I really should apologize. He has spent much of his free time researching, and installing our new home theatre system. Not only that but he did something not many men would do... He downsized on the TV! Yep, that's right we went from a 53 inch to a 42inch.
This has made such a HUGE difference in our house. By getting the big TV and entertainment system out and putting the plasma on the wall we were able to rearrange our furniture and it opened up our whole family room. Which in return gives more play area for Adam and my daycare girls to play in. Not to mention all the components are in a closet so all we have in the living room is 1 remote and the TV hanging on the wall. I'm telling you... I'm love'n it! I cant wait to watch "Cars" tonight with David.
The speakers he installed are flush mounted in the ceiling. So Adam is unable to play with them anymore. (yay!) I am very impressed with how great of a job he did. I would have to say that our family room has better sound and seating than our local movie theatre. (and I'm not kidding or exaggerating) If I dont forget my log in info maybe I'll start posting more often.

blogging bandwagon

I couldn't resist any longer. I finally had to join the blogging bandwagon on blogspot. I've had a blog on 360 but there doesn't seem to be as many people blogging on 360. So here I am giving it a go. This is a horrible picture but it was taken at my favorite restaurant while Danny and I were celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary.
